Barry Hilton had an idea – create an internet based DVD rental system that could be easily rolled out to franchises and independents. Although not a unique concept this system’s key focuses offered an exemplary and convenient user experience, traditional functionality and massive cost benefits to the store owners.
Online Innovations was to realize that Barry is not such a funny man when it came to business. There was to be no compromise - the system had to be easy to use, easy to deploy and be comprehensive and complete in its business functions and independent of any additional third party systems.
Before Barry’s long term vision of an online offering to the DVD industry could be realized the system needed to be staged and tested thoroughly. Cousins DVD in Mount Pleasant was started as a testing ground and as interest in the store grew, Barry was soon to franchise and nationalize the operation.
After some three years of development, testing and refining Online Innovations has delivered a complete solution that, written from scratch, can be viewed as being quite remarkable.
